Habitat & Lifestyle
Inhabit shallow sandy areas around reef. They burrow under the sand during the day, and occasionally out in the open at night. You will often find broken remains in the sand.
Distribution
Occasional Florida, Bahamas, Caribbean; also north to North Carolina and south to Uruguay.
Unique Physique
Fine spines densely cover this disc-shaped sand dollar, with elongated oval holes on its body. It has a Pentagonal petal design
on its back. Living specimens are shades of brown, whereas young are silvery gray; dead specimens are grey.
Abundance
Occasional - Sightings are not unusual, but not on a regular basis.
