Originally delivered to the Britisch Navy as the Miner VI in 1942, the Cominoland was converted in 1968 for ferry services between Valletta Grand Harbour and Comino.

During its services to the Maltese Island it has undergone some more name changes such as “Minor Eagle (1968)”. In 1976 it was re-named the “Cominoland and was owned by the Gozo Channel Co. Ltd. In 1980 it was named “Jylland II” and later on “Cominoland” again by the last owner Captain Morgan cruises. The ship measures 34.42m by 8.60 and was designed to carry 450 passengers and 15 cars.

The Cominoland was scuttled on 12th August 2006 in ix-Xatt l-Ahmar, Gozo. This area has already been used to create an artificial reef of MV Xlendi. Next to the Cominoland wrecks lays the MV Karwela which was scuttled on the same day.

The wreck can be visited both by boat as from shore and lays at a depth of max. 39 meters. The wrecks offers various opportunities for (safe) penetration as it was prepared to serve as a diving wreck. With its deck at around 23 meter, you will have ample time to discover the various features of this newest wreck in Malta!
