Crocodile Rock
The dive boat anchors on the top of the rocky reef between Crocodile Rock and the shore, where the depth is around 7 m (24 ft). The rock platform here is deeply grooved and covered in several species of marine algae, including Padina povonia and Udotea petiolata.
Following the reef to the southern edge of the rock, there is a natural amphitheatre with near-vertical sides. Continuing around to the right, there are a number of deeply incised fissures; the bottom of the wall gives way to a steeply sloping seabed of huge algae-covered boulders. Groupers are common in this area, as are large shoals of Salema (Sarpa salpa). The exit is by retracing your route but in much shallower water, all the way around the rock, or by following the largest fissure up to the shallow reef platform, where the dive boat can be located.
