Underwater Archaeology: The NAS Guide to Principles and Practice Handbook is comprehensive and authoritative. It contains extensive advice and information, including how to get involved, basic principles, essential techniques and approaches, project planning and execution, and publishing and presenting results.
Ever since the original invaluable NAS Handbook went out of print some years ago, an update has been eagerly awaited. Fully illustrated with over 100 drawings and new colour graphics, this new edition includes additional chapters on geophysics, historical research, photography and video, monitoring and maintenance, and conservation.
Prerequisites:
The Part I Course is open to anyone who has previously completed the NAS Introduction Course. Practical sessions are offered for divers and non-divers, and can cater for different ages and abilities. Please let the NAS Office know if you have any special requirements from a course.
Diving on a Part I Course is usually held in a controlled open water environment such as a quarry or sheltered bay. For those who wish to attend as divers the minimum diving qualification is CMAS 2-Star, BSAC Sport Diver, SAA Club Diver, or PADI Advanced Open Water.
